Ben Torah & Hisbodedus [#879]

May 30, 2018

Question:

  1. A ben Torah who is Baruch Hashem immersed most of the day in the Beis Midrash, in Yeshiva – and he Baruch Hashem feels a d’veykus and closeness with Hashem, throughout all his learning all day, and he feels how “I sit in the house of Hashem all day”, not just as an aspiration but because he really feels that he is found there – does he also need an hour of hisbodedus every day as the Ramchal describes?
  2. In connection to the previous question, can it be said that the words of the Ramchal only apply to those who are not immersed most of the day in Torah learning, and therefore they have more time on their hands for hisbodedus, and perhaps this is the Ramchal’s intention that those people need to have at least an hour a day of hisbodedus?

Answer:

  1. Yes, he needs to.
  2. There are many kinds of hisbodedus, and it depends on one’s soul root.
