Question:

1) Is there a source for the Rav’s words that the generation will be in the 50th level of tumah in the final days?

Answer:

The 50th level of tumah is described as the power of achdus (unity) on the side of evil, a zone which unifies every detail together. The sefer Zohar Chai (of the Kamarna Rebbe) in Beraishis 1:72 says, “The 50th gate contains all 49. It is the higher “Keser” level of all of them. It is not just another gate. Rather, it gathers together all 49 gates.”

The Internet contains all details of everything on the planet within it. Therefore, it is clear that this device is the 50th gate of the kelipah, the 50th level of tumah, for it contains everything in it, and it especially contains every kind of tumah within it, which is the very concept of the 50th gate of tumah - every kind of tumah together.

Question:

2) Are there are hints in Chazal and in the sefarim hakedoshim that the final generations will be in the 50th level of tumah?

Answer:

Refer to sefer HaDor HaAcharon.

Question:

3) Is there any source in Chazal or in the commentaries, on the phenomenon of the Internet in the final generations?

Answer:

Refer to answer #1.

See also the Chasam Sofer’s words in sefer Toras Moshe (Devarim 32, 33) that “On the side of impurity, there are also 50 gates. The 50th gate of impurity is the evil version of the 50th level of holiness. Just like the 50th level of holiness cannot be attained by natural means, so also the 50th level of impurity is illogical. When one enters into that gate of impurity, he is grabbing onto holiness (and the Internet is also an evil zone where a person grabs onto holiness, i.e. Torah websites). The hebrew word tamei has the same gematria as Nun, vov, Nun (which reads Nun, 50), hinting to how the 49 gates of impurity are at one level, with the final gate of impurity being at an entirely different level, for it is the aleph, the “one”, on the side of evil, which stands alone and by itself. This is the meaning of “Who can say something is pure and impure? Not even one”, meaning that it is echad (oneness) which Hashem can turn into holiness. It is written, “The head of the serpents is a cruel one”, the head of all impurity, which is actually tied to holiness.” [Hence, the Internet which is a zone of impurity is the actual 50th level of impurity, which even touches holiness, housing together all the words of Torah in it as part of its all-inclusiveness].

There is also a sefer, Matzas Shimurim, which says on the verse “Yanun is his name”, that this hints to two nun’s in the future, the 2 versions of the 50th gate, the 50th gate of holiness and the 50th gate of impurity, and when the 50th gate of impurity is destroyed, the 50th gate of holiness, or the 50th gate of understanding, will be revealed.

Refer also to sefer Ohr L’Shomayim in Parshas Bo and in Parshas Yisro. See also Ohr HaChaim (Shemos 3:8), “The later generations, through their Torah, will enter into the 50th gate and expel the impurity.”
